If you're feeling overwhelmed in any way, please come and talk to the team.
Here are just some of the issues students have brought to us:
Homesickness
Feeling low
Anxiety
Stress
Relationship difficulties
Loneliness
Self esteem
Panic attacks
Mental health issues
It's good to talk - and sometimes you need to talk to an experienced counsellor or Mental Health Advisor.
Email us to arrange an appointment:
counsellingandmentalhealthservice@abertay.ac.uk
You'll then be sent the easy-to-complete referral forms, after which you'll be instructed how to book an assessment appointment.
Appointments are available 9am-5pm weekdays, and up to 6pm on two evenings a week throughout the year.
The service includes a Mental Health Advisor (RNHM) who can work with you if you are experiencing or are concerned about any mental health issues.
We aim to be an inclusive service that provides access to all Abertay Students.
We offer Instant messaging, Teams, telephone and face-to-face appointments. You can choose your preferred method when booking an appointment, and you can make us aware of any other assistance needed when referring to our service.
We can also offer Walk and Talk therapy. If you are interested in this, please let your counsellor or Mental Health Nurse Advisor know in your first appointment.
The Counselling and Mental Health Service adheres to the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice.
Please note: in order to use the Counselling and Mental Health booking service, you must read and agree to the terms of our Counselling and Mental Health Service Privacy Notice.
You can also speak to the Student Enquiry Zone (SEZ) on Level 1 of the Library or email us:
counsellingandmentalhealthservice@abertay.ac.uk
We are open Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.
Due to professional and regulatory requirements, we are unable to provide ongoing counselling and mental health support to students whose domicile and current residence are outside the UK.
We are pleased to offer a one-off wellbeing consultation. During this appointment, we can discuss your current circumstances, explore available support options, and help identify appropriate services and resources in your local area or country of residence.
